Police: Suspect shot by law enforcement fled, sparking manhunt in Drain, Oregon - KPIC News

DRAIN, Ore. - A male suspect shot by a law enforcment officer in Drain on Tuesday fled the scene with a female companion, the Roseburg Police Department said.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office asked residents of Drain to lock their doors and close their blinds during the manhunt.
“I was worried about my employees here," recalled Danielle Slocum, manager of Ray's Food Place in Drain, "because they were in the middle of all this stuff."
Slocum said she was glued to the scanner, listening to the progress in the manhunt.
"It was scary, it was pretty scary," she said.
"A subsequent search of the area conducted by numerous agencies resulted in the capture of both suspects," the Roseburg Police Department said. Detectives from Roseburg responded to assist in the investigation.
"The male was transported to a local medical facility where he received medical treatment," Roseburg Police said. "The Douglas County Major Crimes Team continues to investigate and there is no known ongoing threat to the public."
All uses of potentially deadly force in Oregon require an interagency investigation, the results of which are reviewed by the county prosecutor in order to determine if officers were justified in using deadly force.
There is no word yet on the identity of the suspect; what the suspect was wanted for; the circumstance that led to the shooting, or which agency's officer was involved in the shooting.
