The U.S. House passed a radical abortion bill that allows abortions on demand up to the time of birth. The purposed law would eliminate any legal status of life for an unborn child.
Currently thirty-eight states have laws on the book that recognize the right of life of a fetus. I am no lawyer; but if an unborn child or fetus will have no right to life under this proposed law, it would seem irrational to prosecute someone who intentionally or accidentally causes the death of a fetus.
Our current abortion laws need closer examination too. As stated above, thirty-eight states can prosecute an individual who causes injury or death of an unborn child/fetus, yet the mother of that child can terminate the fetus at will without any consequences.
If a fetus has the right to life as those thirty-eight states, and if a mother can terminate her unborn child at will, doesn’t act qualify as internally killing a fetus? When we start accepting exceptions to the law where does it end? The laws should be prosecuted equally for like offenses – murdering of a fetus is still murder, regardless of who does it.
A few years back Dr. Kevorkian, the doctor who assisted induvial commit suicide, was arrested for second degree murder and sent to prison. Today, states that recognize fetus rights to life do not prosecute doctors that preform the abortions. Why not? Children are the future of our Nation and the world. We need to protect them. As I understand it, full term abortion is extremely painful for the child. If the law passes as proposed, animals will have more protection against cruelty than a human child.
Today, in our country there is no need for abortions on demand. There are contraceptives available to prevent pregnancy, including the morning after pill for cases of rape. I understand there may be medical reasons for aborting a fetus, i.e. a dead fetus. A child conceived in consent should be carried full term and if the parents decide they do not want the child they can put it up for adoption.
It is time to decide if all unborn have the right of life in this country. If the answer is yes, then the laws should be applied equally to all, including mothers who demand abortions and doctors who perform them.
I will leave you with a parting thought; what if George Washington’s mother aborted him or if Abraham Lincoln had been aborted or your mother had aborted you.
