RCSD, law enforcement come together to help stop violence - Spectrum News
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester City School District is partnering with law enforcement agencies across the area in an effort to help young people in Rochester escape violence.
The ‘Each One, Reach One’ campaign looks to connect people with jobs so they stay away from criminal activities for sources of income.
Officials hope that finding work for people will, in turn, make it safer for students both in and outside of school.
RCSD says there are a lot of positions available within the district.
“Helping each other by coming together to look at the problems that we have together to ensure safe and health environments, not only in our schools, but our streets,” RCSD Chief of Human Capital Christopher Miller said. “We have people coming together to do that work and to create that synergy where we can solve our problems together.”
Founders of Family and Friends of Murdered Children and Victims of Violence, Maudine Brown and Audrey Smith, were also honored at the event.
Smith passed away back in 2016.
Both worked to end violence in Rochester since Smith’s son Ricky was murdered back in early 1990s.
