Redding law firms set to give away free 1,000 safety vests for kids on Saturday - KRCR

REDDING, Calif. — A law firm in Redding is giving away 1,000 life vests for kids on Saturday, for free, to promote water safety.

For the last few years, Reiner Slaughter Mainzer & Frankel Law Office located in Redding has distributed free life vests for children in the community to help promote water safety.

"Water safety is extremely important to us, and we've handled quite a few cases where children have either died from not being prepared in the water or were seriously injured. This [giveaway] is our way to give back to the community," said Attorney April Stratte with Reiner Slaughter Mainzer & Frankel Law Office.

The vest will be available for newborns to children weighing 125 pounds.

The giveaway will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Headwaters Adventure Company located at 2655 Park Marina Drive in Redding.

The giveaway will be first come; first serve.

Any life vest left over will be donated to the Shasta Family YMCA.

Children will have to have a parent or guardian at the giveaway to make sure the vest fits properly. There will also be a water safety course.
