Rep. Matt Gaetz stripped of right to practice law in Florida - New York Daily News

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) is reportedly ineligible to practice law in Florida after failing to pay dues to the bar association as the feds raise the heat on him in a sex trafficking case.

The embattled conservative lawmaker is deemed “delinquent” after apparently let his law license lapse even though he could’ve paid a paltry $175 to maintain himself as a “member in good standing,” the Daily Beast reported.

“Congressman Gaetz is no longer actively engaged in the practice of law. He is focused on representing his constituents in Congress, not the courtroom,” said Joel Valdez, his communications director.

Federal prosecutors are investigating his possible involvement in a sex trafficking scheme involving young women and even an underage girl.

Defense lawyers and prosecutors recently asked a judge to delay Greenberg’s sentencing so he can continue to spill the beans about the involvement of Gaetz and anothers in his scheme.

That’s was very bad news for Gaetz, legal eagles say. Things went from bad to worse this week when news broke that the feds recently assigned Todd Gee, a top prosecutor who normally handle high level public corruption cases, to Gaetz’s case as first reported by Vanity Fair.
