ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Retired from law and real estate, Fran Moore has turned an art that was once just a hobby into a second career.

"Pick a hobby when you are young, whether you are collecting something or you do something," Moore said.

He now makes very detailed custom wood carvings and stained-glass windows.

"I think most people who work with their hands have a huge advantage over people who sit in an office all day," he said.

He has created doors, windows and lamps for a variety of customers.

"To me, to use your hands like a lot of people go nuts over gardening or whatever -- for me, this became what I wanted to do forever," he said.
