Retiring Gates Police Chief James VanBrederode on his career in law enforcement - WXXI News

Gates Police Chief James VanBrederode is retiring after nearly 40 years in law enforcement. He served as chief of the Gates force since 2013. VanBrederode has been involved in a number of major initiatives, including innovative approaches to the opioid epidemic.

He joins us to discuss his career in law enforcement. Our guest:

Evan Dawson is the host of "Connections with Evan Dawson." He joined WXXI in January 2014 after working at 13WHAM-TV, where he served as morning news anchor. He was hired as a reporter for 13WHAM-TV in 2003 before being promoted to anchor in 2007.
