S.F. pledged $120 million from law enforcement budgets to the Black community. Did it deliver? - San Francisco Chronicle

Two years after San Francisco Mayor London Breed and Board of Supervisors President Shamann Walton pledged to redirect $120 million over two years from law enforcement to the Black community, the Dream Keeper Initiative they created is widely praised for its intent and impact, but faces questions about whether it fulfilled its funding promise.

About half the money for the program came from previously approved law enforcement budgets. The remainder the next year came from the city’s general fund at the same time that Breed increased city support to police and other departments as the overall city budget grew.
