RAPID CITY, S.D. — Thursday was an exciting day at the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office as they swore in several new employees.

County officials were on-hand to greet and formally recognize the new hires, with families and friends of the new staffers in attendance to show their support.

“It’s really rewarding, even with past law enforcement experience,” Deputy David Dross said. “It’s a whole new chapter, and a whole new part of my life, so it’s very exciting. Lot of new people, new friends. New family.”

And with the swearing in completed, many are ready to get started.

“I’m really glad to be here. Just moved to the area, love the area. Look forward to meeting the people in the community, working alongside them,” Deputy Dross said.” And then working alongside with my new co-workers. My new family.”

Several divisions of the sheriff’s office were represented, including Corrections.
