Texas car seat law begins January - WOAI
SAN ANTONIO - There's a new law parents with small children should be aware of when it comes to their car seat.
In 2017 it was reported that 35% of children in Texas were not properly restrained in their car seat.
A child without a seat belt could result in a fine between $25 and $250 fine.
If your child is under the age of eight and not properly restrained in a car seat, you could also face a misdemeanor charge.
Texas law declares parents must follow the age limit on the manual for rear facing limits. The minimum age on most manuals is age two unless the child exceeds the maximum rear facing limit.
