The 2022 list of Austin-area law firms focuses on firms specializing in business needs from administrative and appellate to real estate, technology and everything in between. To be eligible for the list, participants must have offices in the Austin area.

Ranked by the number of Austin-area attorneys, the top 50 firms collectively employ 1,477 attorneys locally, a modest 5% increase since last year.

However disclosure of pro bono services and other charitable contributions on the survey was low this time compared to past years. Fifteen firms reported 13,480 pro bono hours donated during 2021. Tracking 2020 pro bono hours, 23 listmakers reported 31,163 hours, mostly from helping with pandemic related needs, such as contract changes.

Data for the list is gathered from ABJ surveys sent to local firms. Only those that respond to requests for information are included.
