Two Chicago Ex-Big Law Lawyers Suspended for False Billings - Bloomberg Law

Two former Big Law attorneys in Chicago who overbilled for case work will begin serving their agreed-to suspensions next month, according to the Illinois Supreme Court.

While working at Reed Smith, Alexandra Gerstetter “submitted false billing records totaling 86.4 hours, which resulted in one of the firm’s clients being overbilled by $40,176,” the court’s disciplinary commission said.

The firm paid the client back and Gerstetter begins her 60-day suspension Oct. 14.
