Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.
UPDATE 9:54 p.m.: The suspect dropped a backpack of unknown color out of the driver’s side window, the law enforcement officer following the suspect relayed to the dispatcher. Then he said, that the driver dumped an additional camo colored backpack out the window. At this time, he said the driver is traveling about 20 mph on the dirt road.
UPDATE 10:05 p.m.: The driver is now on what law enforcement is describing as a “logging trail” at speeds of about 10 mph.
UPDATE 10:10 p.m.: Law enforcement now has “one at gunpoint,” the dispatcher says at 10:06 p.m. Then the officer can be heard saying that the suspect “footbailed” (took off on foot) through the brush. Law enforcement officer says they are not in pursuit and are returning to their vehicles. He describes the suspect as an Indian male adult approximately 20 to 30 years old, over the scanner. “There is a holster for a firearm,” an officer says while looking through the suspect’s vehicle. This implies that the suspect fled with a firearm though that is conjecture not proof.
UPDATE 10:12 p.m.: The suspect’s vehicle is “10851” (stolen), the dispatcher tells the officer. Prior to that the officer told dispatch that the suspect backed the pickup into the officer’s patrol vehicle before fleeing on foot.
