Wilson Sonsini to move Boston office to One Boston Place - The Business Journals
Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, considered one of the top law firms for life sciences companies nationwide, is getting a new Boston address.
The law firm has agreed to lease nearly 41,000 square feet at One Boston Place. It is expected to move in later this year, leaving behind 28 State St., where it has been since arriving in the Boston market in 2016.
The move will mark one of the most significant law-firm relocations in Boston since the start of the pandemic. K&L Gates LLP is among the others to announce a move, having signed on to occupy two floors at the under-construction One Congress tower.
Wilson Sonsini will take the 19th and 20th floors at One Boston Place. Other tenants in the 41-floor building include BNY Mellon and the law firm Ogletree Deakins.
Wilson Sonsini is being represented in the transaction by Cushman & Wakefield’s John Boyle and Ryan Hurd as well as Washington Realty Group’s Eric Berson, while the landlord, Nuveen and Hines/Ivanhoe Cambridge, is represented by Newmark’s Jason Cameron and Gil Dailey.
“This was a market-setting transaction and the law firm’s space will offer employees a best-in-class office experience with breathtaking views of the city, with great amenities in the building, while being conveniently located in the very heart of the Financial District right adjacent to State and Congress streets,” Boyle said in a statement.
The law firm, which has West Coast roots, had 33 attorneys in Massachusetts as of earlier this year, according to Business Journal research. Unlike other national firms that have moved into Boston in recent years, the firm has not relied on hiring away partners from other Boston legal offices to build its local presence. One of its few local partner-level hires has been Mark Bellomy, who it brought on from Ropes & Gray last year.
Partners in Wilson Sonsini’s Boston office were not immediately available for comment on the office move.
