GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. —
A Greenville woman is in custody after she fired a shot at a Greenville County Detention Transport Vehicle, according to the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.
Lt. Ryan Flood said Tracy Dawn Burkhart, 51, has been charged with unlawful carry of a firearm, malicious damage, trespassing and malicious injury to animals or personal property.
Flood said the incident happened just before 3 a.m. when Burkhart drove into the back parking lot of the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center, got out of her vehicle and shot into an unmarked Ford Explorer before getting back in her car and driving away.
The incident was witnessed by a Greenville County deputy who immediately pursued Burkhart and initiated a traffic stop where she was taken into custody and a weapon, believed to be used in the shooting, was found, Flood said.
The motive for the shooting is unclear, according to Flood.
She is currently in the Greenville County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
