Yates County legislature makes changes to weapons ban law, public hearing set for Wednesday - FingerLakes1.com
The Yates County Legislature will host a public hearing Wednesday on a proposed law that would ban the possession of weapons in any building owned, leased or operated by the county.
The hearing will be Wednesday at 1:40PM in the legislative chamber. The Chronicle-Express reports two changes were made to the proposed law at the regular December legislature meeting. They were moved by Legislator Jim Multer, who represents Barrington and Starkey. One would make the law apply only to displayed, not concealed weapons. The other removes an exemption for county employees.
The law was discussed and voted on at the legislature’s September meeting, but failed to receive enough votes to pass.
